Chef Dana Herbert named Great Cake-off Winner by WED the Magazine

In its search for the best wedding cakes of 2010, WED the Magazine announced the winner of the Great Cake-off – Chef Dana Herbert of Desserts by Dana.  Category winners and the four finalists were selected by the editorial staff of WED, with the ultimate winner selected by famed cake designer Sylvia Weinstock.

“We put a call out to all wedding cake designers - Show us what you got!” said Kelly Werder, Editor-in-Chief of WED. “In honor of our January cover Interview with Sylvia Weinstock we launched the search for THE ULTIMATE WEDDING CAKE of 2010 and we received some amazing designs.  It was a tough decision.”

The winning “Cinderella” design was created by Dana Herbert of Desserts by Dana, perfect for a princess on her Big Day.  In the same week as our announcement, Chef Herbert was revealed as the winner on Cake Boss: The Next Great Baker. 

Although not a fan of fondant, Sylvia Weinstock did feel the design and techniques used reflected some great work and picked it as her favorite from our finalists.  The other finalists came from Fleur de Lisa Cakes and Signature Cakes by Vicki.
